for couples

Most people think love story photo-sessions are only for the newly engaged.  So not true!  It is every bit as important to tell your love story at 10 years, 25 years, 50 years and all the times in between.  So whether you have just set the date or are celebrating a lifetime together, I want to illustrate your story.  The love story photo-session is also a wonderful gift idea for your spouse (especially from hubby to wife) or for mom and dad’s anniversary.  Don’t forget Valentine’s Day!

How does it happen?  Is it awkward?   Really?  Seriously?  But you’ve had children together.  You’ve lived with each other through better and worse or are about to take that vow!  That being said, I understand the idea of showing affection in front of the camera is a bit awkward to a lot of people.  For some, it may rank up there with public speaking.  The best way we can begin to overcome any discomfort is by getting to know each other during the consult.  You will have the opportunity to tell me if you are a ‘kissy’ couple or not.  One of my many helpful methods is to use a long lens.  That allows space and gives the two of you opportunity to walk, talk, and enjoy your time together.

The time you have together should feel like a date.  Where would you like to go?  Want to plan a picnic on the beach?  Have a coffee at an outdoor bistro?  Perhaps a simple walk, hand-in-hand, just before dusk.  Your options are limitless.  Think of where you enjoy going as a couple.  Just answering where and when will alleviate 80% of your concerns.  The other 20% falls away as you simply hang out with your very best friend.  During the shoot, I will give you helpful instruction as ideas spontaneously come to me.  Most of all, we will just have fun.  Laughter is a great disguise.  So, initially, most couples laugh and tease one another.  If you ask me, that’s a perfect beginning, middle, and end.

What should we wear?  Absolutely avoid matching.  Coordinate instead.  Choose a color palette which will allow you to stand out from your environment.  You can spruce up simple ideas with layers and accessories.  For example, vests, hats, & scarves are classics.  They can add color, depth, and unlike leisure suites, you won’t soon be embarrassed by them.  Since attire is very personality dependent, we will spend much more time on this subject during your consult.  Feel free to look over my galleries and see how others have done it.

Think about your purpose.  When planning to decorate a wall or room of your home, you may want to choose a location and clothing which are suitable for the space or design.  If you already have a desire for a custom product such as a storybook, wall gallery, or wedding/anniversary announcement, let me know.  We don’t want to stage every aspect of the photo-session, but often, I can photograph in a manner best illustrating your ideas.

Let us always consider each other.  I am passionate about photography and I am passionate about serving you well.  I will treat you with respect.  Please extend the same courtesy to me.  If you are unable to attend your session, please let me know immediately.  I have set aside that special time for you.  Because of my personal approach, I schedule sessions keeping in mind the amount of time necessary to present you with a terrific product.  Please talk with me about all your concerns and ideas.

Your thoughts and ideas will be the first draft of your story! Together, we will illustrate it for you!
