You often ask and want to know right away. So, here are some helpful answers.
What is the price of a photo-session?
The session fee can vary depending on seasonal promotions, so be sure to contact me with your specific desires. The average reservation fee is $150. Be sure to check Promotions under Get Info. The entire reservation fee is due prior to your photography session. The session is on-location, within 30 miles from Corpus Christi. For travel outside this area, please contact jannelle.
How do we plan my photo-session?
The very first step is to schedule your 1 hour, complementary consult. During the consult, we discuss you, your personal likes, and get ideas rolling for your session. If you are ready to schedule your photo-session, we will contract and get you on the calendar.
What is included with the photo-session?
The industry answer to this question is, “time and talent”. That is, the photo-session fee covers my talent as a photographer and the time I spend photographing you. After the photo-session, I edit, enhance , and prepare approximately 20-30 images for your proofing session. Be sure to check Promotions under Get Info as I often add something special or offer alternative options to the photo-session.
Will I get any of the images on disc?
You do have the option of purchasing one or some or all the digital files I show you. I always retain the copyright, but you may elect to purchase the right to reprint up to size 8×12” prints. Again, I’d like to remind you how passionate I am about printing your story. Printing well is not something achieved by a novice. I am every bit as serious about my printed products as a painter is to her canvas. You will not achieve the same results by going to the local 1 hr. printer. Therefore, I offer an incentive program. When your print order reaches a set sum, you will receive your images on disc with the right to reprint. I often offer the low-resolution files, watermarked for web-sharing, in combination with another purchase.
How will I proof my images?
Your proofing session is possibly the most exciting part of the entire process! We will view your story on a large projector screen, drink really good joe, and consider each image for many various print sizes. For example, when I project the image as a 24×36, it will actually measure 24”x36” on the viewing screen! It’s calibrated by a highly effective software program created for photographers. We will compare images and create a gallery perfect for your walls! After your individual proofing session, I will gladly post your entire gallery online to share with your friends and family. Some sessions may be offered with on-line proofing.
Will I be able to share my images online with my friends and family?
I love to share your gallery on-line after your proofing session. You may invite anyone to my site or facebook page so they may see them too. Through several years of trial and try again, I have learned ordering is most productive when I assist with advice on arrangement, placement, and sizes. I will gladly help you order gifts for your friends and family. You will find they are far too busy to order on their own.
How quickly can I do all of this?
Please contact me at least 4 weeks before you’d like to schedule your photo-session. Each story has a minimum three- part process of consult, photo-session, proofing & ordering session. I do not hurry my clients because I want their experience to bring only joyful memories. Therefore, to hurry me is shorting you on a terrific experience. If you have little notice and I have an opening, I will try to accommodate.
What is the cost of prints?
This is the most difficult question to answer in this format, because I offer a wide range of archival fine art prints from classic, canvas, gallery wraps and storyboards to collections and framing. I also offer custom and boutique style prints and products such as cards, hardback storybooks, and handbags. Printing and framing is an art all on its own. I take it all very seriously in order to deliver you a treasured work of art. Come see examples to fully understand and appreciate every detail. Specific information about pricing is addressed in detail during your consult.
Do you offer bundles or packages?
Yes. I often bundle the session fee with a specific print product as a promotion. You may visit the ’Investment’ tab to get more specific information on the sessions which are currently offered. I also offer incentives when you purchase a specified collection of prints. However, my studio model is not like many high-volume or franchise studios. I like to be a little more creative, even when you have the need to send an updated photograph to the entire family.
What should I wear?
That partly depends on you, your style and the location! But don’t sweat this. We are going to cover this hot topic during your consult. My favorite words here are ‘contrast and you’. Careful not to confuse my intention. I do not mean to wear obnoxious plaids or your favorite Saturday work shorts! I simply want you to be remarkable. You can be comfortable and beautiful. I love jeans and t-shirts. I love sassy shoes and ruffled scarves. I adore boots and bare feet alike. I love bold and vibrant colors! And no, each member of your family does not need to wear the same color shirt! In fact, I encourage you not to all match identically. We will first figure out the who, what, where, and why. Then, we will define a suitable color palette from which you will choose the most suitable style. Suddenly, you have an excuse to buy a new outfit!
Can I have my photo-session anywhere I choose?
No, but we can certainly try or find a similar spot. If it is on private property, we must ask the owners. I have found most people are very willing if we just respectfully ask. If it is dangerous, illegal, or unethical, no. For example, as picturesque as old railroad tracks are, we will be visited and questioned for standing on an active track. Instead, I found a fabulous location where the train moves frequently through a public park. We can capture the train in the background and get creative photographs under the tracks. When we apply this method to other sticky situations, we usually have a great solution. With some locations there is a fee for entrance or to photograph on the premises. In those cases, it will be the client’s responsibility.
What if I need to reschedule?
If you haven’t noticed by now, I spend a great deal of time scheduling each part of your story. Otherwise, I’d have deadlines I couldn’t make and unhappy clients. I want shining stars, happy faces, and joy! When you reschedule at the last minute, that boggles all my meticulous scheduling and once again we are back to less than happy! Therefore, I cannot guarantee to reschedule you soon. It may be several weeks. Please check your calendar before scheduling and make our appointment a priority.
Is this a lot of work?
Sometimes a question is best answered with a question. Do you love photographs? Do you love to share photographs of you or your family with others? Do you enjoy decorating your home? If so, then the answer is no. On the contrary, it will be so much fun! However, if your honest answers were, “no” then we may not be a good match. Believe it or not, compatibility is a question I like to answer during the consult. If I think your expectations may be more in line with a quick-turn studio, I will recommend you find a better fit. Ultimately, I want all my clients to choose me because they are moved by my work and love the idea of illustrating their story!
May we shine like stars in the universe!
